Opis:Srednjeveške uprizoritve so prikazi zgodovinski aktivnosti, katere preučujejo in v njih sodelujejo posamezniki ali skupine, njihova aktivnost pa v osnovi predstavlja: upizoritev bojev in tehnik mečevanja in uporabe ostalega orožja, ki je zaznamvovano v virih tedanjega obdobja; uprizoritve žive zgodovine, v katerih imajo opazovalci preko uprizoriteljev možnost spoznati interpretacijo življenja v srednjem veku. Problematika tovrstnih aktivnosti je zajemala razlikovanje med pristnostjo in nepristnostjo, saj mnogi izmed uprizoriteljev zavedno ali nezavedno ne razlikujejo med enim in drugim področjem. Za izbiro takšne tematike smo se odločili, ker smo želeli na podlagi strokovne literature in mnenj strokovnjakov s tega področja, ustvariti mejo, ki ločuje pristno od nepristnega in je s tem tudi ostalim omogočala razlikovanje med enim in drugim. Predpostavljali smo, da bomo naleteli na nekatere izzive, saj to področje v preteklosti ni bilo predmet mnogih akademskih raziskav, kar je pomenilo, da smo bili primorani se po pomoč obrniti na posameznike s pravimi informacijami. V tem koraku nas je skrbela problematika, da informacij, ki so nujne za uspeh naše naloge, ne bomo prejeli zaradi lastnega interesa uprizoriteljev. Kasneje smo to skrb ovrgli, saj je v interesih uprizoriteljev, da povedo več o njihovih dejavnostih in hobijih. To velja še toliko bolj za tiste, ki dobro poznavajo avtentiko, saj želijo, da javnost tudi sama začne zavračati srednjeveška prepričanja in mite, katere so si ustvarili s pomočjo modernih virov (serij, filmov, igric, knjig, itd.). Ugotovitve, na katerih temeljijo vse ostale, so dosledno upoštevanje ustreznih zgodovinskih virov ali strokovnih mnenj posameznikov, ki se poklicno okvarjajo s proučevanjem zgodovine, predmetov, tehnik, navad in običajev nekega zgodovinskega obdobja. Ko dobro spoznamo zgodovinske lastnosti in izvor določenega elementa, postane razlikovanje med pristnostjo in fantazijo lažje.

Naslov:MARKETING AUTHENTICITY: MEDIEVAL REENACTMENT TOURISM
Opis:Medieval reenactment is a demonstration of historical activities in which participants study the past based on primary sources and then try to reproduce them as close as possible. The activities are usually divided into two parts: Battle reenactment – more specifically examples of fighting and swordsmanship techniques as well as other weapons of that period; Living history performances – an activity where reenactors show examples of different lifestyles from various social levels, such as clothing, food, games, dances, music, etc. The issue of such activities include the distinction between authenticity and inauthenticity, since many of the performers have a difficult time distinguishing between the two areas. We’ve selected to explore this topic because we wanted to create a border that separates genuine from non-genuine reenactment and thus giving other performers a guideline between one and the other. This research is based on several scientific papers as well as interviews and surveys from reenactors who understand and appreciate authenticity. We presumed that we would encounter some challenges, since the areas of authenticity and reenactment have been explored, but rarely together. This meant that we were forced to turn for help to individuals with the right information. Quality information is usually hard to get, not to mention the fact that performers invest a lot of time, effort and funds into their work, so getting the information from reenactors was the most worrying area – we believed many wouldn't share their knowledge with us. Later this fear was proven wrong since it’s in the interest of performers to tell more about their activities and hobbies. They believe sharing knowledge about authenticity based on historic facts is an effective way to teach others about the subject. This is especially important about the public who are surrounded by myths, legends and folklore created by modern sources (movies, series, games, books, etc.) While searching for the line between authenticity and inauthenticity in medieval reenactment, we found that the authors of research articles as well as performers agree that authenticity is not only important but also reachable to some level.
