Abstract:
Children's books are an important element in the development of reading skills as well as literacy as such, and translations additionally enrich the wide range of available literature. Translators of children’s books are often faced with special challenges, since they have to consider the young audience they are translating for, the existing norms and language limitations, a major element in translating of sound figures, which are a common element in literature for the young. By stating the most frequent sound figures, such as alliteration, onomatopoeia and rhyme as well as giving several examples in two translations, I tried to determine which sound figures can be translated, which are a problem to translate and how present solutions to such problems may be found.
