Abstract:Temeljni namen magistrskega dela je bil ugotoviti, kako družinski odnosi in socialna opora družine vplivajo na samovrednotenje otrok v odraslosti.

Title:The impact of family relations and social support from family on a child's self-esteem
Abstract:The main goal of the master’s thesis was to explore how family relationships and family social support affect children's self-esteem in adulthood. In the theoretical part, we defined social relationships, the importance of interpersonal relationships for individual development, and the terms social support and its forms, self-image, and self-esteem. We then focused on family relationships, which were studied on two levels: the relationship between children and parents and the relationship between partners. These were later compared to the social support children receive from the family and their self-esteem. In the empirical part, we presented the results of a quantitative survey. Based on the analysis of the results, we found that destructive relationships between parents and children in the primary family negatively correlate with social support and children's self-esteem in adulthood. A negative correlation also exists between destructive partner relationships and social support and children's self-esteem. We found statistically significant differences in the self-esteem of respondents based on gender, with females showing higher self-esteem than males. We demonstrated a positive correlation between family social support and children's self-esteem in adulthood.
