Abstract:Uvod: Pandemija COVID-19 je prinesla nove izzive in spremenila način življenja mnogih ljudi po svetu. Literaturo smo iskali v petih podatkovnih bazah: PubMed, CINAHL, Cochrane Library in ScienceDirect.

Title:Consequences and impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health of children and adolescents
Abstract:Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic brought new challenges and changed the way of life for many people worldwide. Countries realized how quickly the disease could spread and what consequences it could have. It affected people of all ages, including children and adolescents, who experienced the pandemic differently from their parents. Methods: This thesis used a descriptive method, specifically a literature review. Literature was searched in five databases: PubMed, CINAHL, Cochrane Library, and ScienceDirect. The process of the literature search was shown using a PRISMA-diagram. We then arranged the relevant results according to the hierarchy of evidence and presented them with the help of content and evaluation tables. Results: We included 11 articles in the final analysis. All included and excluded articles demonstrated the significant negative impact of social isolation on the mental health of children and adolescents worldwide. The hardest hit were children and young people with co-existing illnesses or weak family relationships. Discussion and conclusion: The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant negative impact on the well-being of children and young people. They were exposed to both the danger of infection and the risk of abuse in dysfunctional families. More research is needed to determine the exact or specific consequences.
