Abstract:Magistrsko delo obravnava pedagoške koncepte Noama Chomskega, ameriškega jezikoslovca, političnega aktivista in markantnega intelektualca. V prvem poglavju sta predstavljena biografija in delo. V drugem poglavju delo predstavi pedagoške koncepte. Njegovi pedagoški koncepti predstavljajo nadgradnjo obstoječih progresivnih idej in ostajajo relevantni, saj izpostavljajo ključna načela liberalne družbe. Delo odpira vprašanja o avtonomiji izobraževalnih institucij, indoktrinaciji in o pomenu kritičnega mišljenja posameznikov.

Title:Pedagogical Concepts of Noam Chomsky
Abstract:The master's thesis explores the pedagogical concepts of Noam Chomsky, a renowned American linguist, political activist, and intellectual. The primary goal is to provide a comprehensive overview of Chomsky’s contributions to the field of education, focusing on his influence, significance, and ideas. The first chapter contains Chomsky's biography and work, while the second delves into his pedagogical concepts. The latter critically examines the conventional education system, the vision of the education system, the role of indoctrination, the intertwining of education with politics, and the importance of academic autonomy. In the following chapters, the thesis attempts to situate Chomsky's views within broader pedagogical theories and explore their relevance within the Slovenian educational framework, including a comparison with the White paper on education in the Republic of Slovenia and the National Education Program for 2023–2033. In conclusion, the thesis provides an analysis of the research conducted and a summary of the key findings. Although Chomsky’s career has largely centered on linguistics, cognitive science, and political activism, he has also substantially impacted education. His pedagogical concepts build upon progressive ideas and continue to be relevant, highlighting essential principles of a liberal society. The thesis raises questions about the autonomy of educational institutions, indoctrination, and the importance of critical thinking in individuals.
