Abstract:Magistrsko delo obravnava dva mladinska zgodovinska romana Deček na vrhu gore (The Boy at the Top of the Mountain) pisatelja Johna Boyna in The Boy Who Dared (Deček, ki si je drznil) pisateljice Susan Campbell Bartoletti. Cilj naloge je primerjati oba romana, ki pripadata tako mladinski kot zgodovinski prozi, in pojasniti njuno zgodovinsko ozadje, ob tem pa primerjati dva mlada protagonista, in sicer Pierrota Fischerja in Helmutha Hübenerja, ki se znajdeta v turbulentnih časih – najprej v obdobju vzpona nacizma in nato še sredi druge svetovne vojne. Vsak po svoje se trudita po najboljših močeh manevrirati med zastavljenimi pravili režima in pri tem odkrivati, kdo sta in kakšne so njune vrednote.

Title:Narativizacija krivde in nedolžnosti v mladinskih romanih J. Boyna in S. C. Bartoletti : magistrsko delo
Abstract:The thesis analyses two novels from the genre of young adult and historical fiction: John Boyne’s The Boy at the Top of the Mountain and Susan Campbell Bartoletti’s The Boy Who Dared. It aims to explain the historical background of the two novels, and compare two young protagonists, Pierrot Fischer, and Helmuth Hübener, who struggle to navigate their lives in the era of the rise of Nazism and later the Second World War. The first part of the thesis offers a brief theoretical overview about genre, while the second chapter covers historical background, crucial to an understand of the events in the two novels. The third and the fourth chapter individually cover the two novels and contain the analysis. The fifth chapter builds on the previous two chapters to offer a clear overview of how the two protagonists differ, and where similarities between them can be made.
