Title:Strelski napadi na šolah v Evropi in po svetu: vidik žrtev in dejavniki prestopništva : diplomsko delo univerzitetnega študijskega programa Varstvoslovje

Abstract:Nasilje predstavlja velik socialni in politični problem, ki ga stopnjujejo predvsem revščina, neurejene soseske, dostop do strelnega orožja ter diskriminacija, kar lahko privede do izrednega nasilja kot je streljanje na šolah. Streljanja na šolah predstavljajo in vzbujajo nepredstavljive občutke, ki jih doživljajo žrtve strelskih napadov, njihove družine in šolski delavci, po drugi strani pa je dobro vedeti o vzrokih, vplivih in posledicah, zakaj se storilci odločijo za napad. Napadi se dogajajo povsod po svetu in so v primerjavi z drugimi kaznivimi dejanji redki dogodki, a ko se zgodijo, v družbi povzročijo moralno paniko, predvsem zaradi medijev, ki vse to informirajo, včasih dogodke predstavijo lažno ter jih označujejo kot naključna dejanja. V resnici so vse bolj kompleksna in zapletena kot naključna. Osebe, ki izvedejo napad na šole, po navadi trpijo za duševnimi težavami, ki so povezane z različnimi motnjami, izgubami ter pretiranim nasiljem, poleg tega pa k temu prisostvujejo dejavniki prestopništva, ki storilce privedejo do izvedbe njihovega načrta. Problem v Ameriki predstavlja dostop do orožja, v evropskih državah pa je zakonodaja na tem področju bolj urejena. Pri žrtvah, ki preživijo napade in njihovih družinah, se pogosto razvijejo določene travme, ki jih posamezniki predelujejo različno glede na njihove sposobnosti spoprijemanja s stresnimi dogodki. V teh primerih je pomemben pristop obravnave in pomoči, saj jo v teh trenutkih žrtve najbolj potrebujejo. Veliko vlogo pri tem ima šola, ki mora vzpostaviti ustrezno zaščito žrtev, tako učencev kot delavcev, ki so bili v strelskem napadu udeleženi. V nalogi so opisani tudi primeri napadov, vključno z najbolj znanim strelskim pohodom na srednji šoli Columbine iz leta 1999.

Title:School shootings in Europe and worldwide: victims' perspective and factors of delinquency
Abstract:Violence is a major social and political problem, exacerbated by poverty, unregulated neighbourhoods, access to firearms and discrimination, which can lead to extreme violence such as school shootings. School shootings represent and evoke unimaginable feelings for the victims of shooting attacks, their families and school staff, but on the other hand, it is good to know about the causes, influences and consequences of why perpetrators choose to attack. Attacks happen all over the world and are rare events compared to other crimes, but when they do happen, they cause a moral panic in society, mainly because of the media, which report it all, sometimes misrepresenting the events and labelling them as random acts. In reality, they are more and more complex and complicated than random. The people who carry out attacks on schools are usually suffering from mental health problems linked to various disorders, losses and excessive violence, and there are also delinquency factors that lead the perpetrators to carry out their plan. Access to weapons is a problem in America, whereas European countries have more regulated legislation in this area. Victims who survive attacks and their families often develop specific traumas that are processed differently by individuals according to their ability to cope with stressful events. In these cases, the approach of treatment and assistance is important, as it is at these moments that victims need it most. The school has a major role to play in this respect, as it must put in place adequate protection for the victims, both pupils and workers who were involved in the shooting attack. The thesis also describes examples of attacks, including the most famous shooting at Columbine High School in 1999.
