Kadar morajo vodje tej generaciji podati navodila in opredeliti svoja pričakovanja pa uporabijo formalno komunikacijo.

Title:The challenges of leading generation Z
Abstract:The contemporary labor market is characterized by the coexistence of four distinct generations, which poses significant challenges for managers. A thorough understanding of employees and their generational differences is essential for effective leadership. Such knowledge is crucial for implementing tailored approaches to each generation, thereby enhancing organizational performance and efficiency. In recent years, Generation Z in particular required significant workplace adjustments, particularly in the areas of motivation and communication. This new generation, having grown up in a digital world, expects simplicity and instant access. In the initial section of the thesis, we explore leadership, investigate different leadership styles and theories, and discuss the importance of motivation and communication in leadership. Next, we focus on different generations and their characteristic traits, with a particular emphasis on Generation Z and the most suitable leadership style for it. In the empirical section of the thesis, we present the findings of a survey, investigating the most effective leadership approaches for Generation Z. We conducted interviews with senior executives, inquiring about their leadership style towards this generation, motivation, and communication. Our analysis revealed that managers know of intergenerational differences in the workplace, but struggle to apply this knowledge when implementing leadership styles tailored to Generation Z. According to our analysis and findings, the autocratic approach is still prevalent when working with Generation Z, while more contemporary approaches, identified in literature as the most effective, are less widely adopted. Through analysis, we identified money and financial rewards, as well as rapid career advancement, as the most important motivators for this generation. Leaders adapt their communication style to Generation Z when it comes to indirect communication, often using social media. When leaders need to provide instructions and define their expectations, they use formal communication.
