Abstract:
Uvod: Depresija predstavlja pomemben izziv za javno zdravje. Ta zmanjša kakovost življenja, povzroča invalidnost, sočasne bolezni in umrljivost. V nekaterih primerih ta kljub vsemu ostaja težko obvladljiva, zato so se razvile dodatne možnosti zdravljenja, kot so metode stimulacije možganov. Ti inovativni pristopi imajo sposobnost ciljnega vpliva na nevrotransmiterske poti in nevronsko aktivnost ter privedejo do izboljšanja njenih simptomov. Metode: V okviru zaključnega dela smo izvedli sistematičen pregled, analizo in sintezo literature s področja zdravljenja depresije z metodami stimulacije možganov. Številne raziskave so pokazale pozitivne učinke metod stimulacije možganov.

Title:
Treatment of depression with brain stimulation methods
Abstract:
Introduction: Depression represents a significant challenge to public health. It diminishes quality of life, leads to disability, comorbidities, and mortality. In some cases, it remains difficult to manage despite this, leading to the development of additional treatment options such as brain stimulation methods. These innovative approaches have the ability to selectively influence neurotransmitter pathways and neural activity, leading to an improvement in its symptoms. Methods: As part of the final project, we conducted a systematic review, analysis, and synthesis of literature on the treatment of depression using brain stimulation methods. We employed a descriptive method of scientific and professional literature. Literature was searched in the following databases: PubMed, CINAHL Ultimate, Science Direct, and Google Scholar. Results: We analyzed 10 articles that met the selected criteria. It was found that all studies confirmed the positive effects of various brain stimulation methods on improving depression symptoms in patients. Based on the sources, we found that its effectiveness varies depending on the severity of depression and its combination with treatment. Discussion and conclusion: The analysis of the articles showed an emphasis on mental health in society, as it causes many inconveniences. Since this can be difficult to manage, new treatment methods are being developed. Numerous research studies have shown the positive effects of brain stimulation methods.
