V nadaljevanju so predstavljene specifike nemškega knjižnega jezika, njegove fonetične značilnosti, pravila izgovarjave in znane tipične napake tujcev pri govoru nemščine.

Abstract:This master's thesis deals with the sociophonetic characteristics of local German-speaking tourist guides in the Slovenian region of Styria who have learnt German as a foreign language. Fact is that German is amongst the most widely used means of communication in Slovenian tourism, that the region of Styria is located on the border with Austria, that tour guides belong to a special professional group, dealing with language, speech and voice on a daily basis, and that they have the most personal, but also the first and (usually) last contact with tourists. This made it easy for us to select this profile for our study. The aim of our study was to compare the pronunciation characteristics of selected tour guides in Slovenian Styria with the pronunciation characteristics of standard German and to determine the pronunciation characteristics of female and male tour guides. The theoretical part of this master's thesis introduces the terms phonetics, phonology and sociophonology, and contains a brief overview of the characteristics of the Slovenian language, its special features and dialects, with a focus on the dialect of the Styrian region of Slovenia. The next section describes the special features of standard German, its phonetic characteristics, pronunciation rules and the typical mistakes made by non-native German speakers. The theoretical part is concluded with chapters on the similarities and differences between Slovenian and German, and a presentation of already known results of similar studies conducted in German-speaking areas. The empirical part contains all linguistic material and the presentation of the method, the interpretation of collected data, the acoustic analysis of ten test participants and the evaluation of obtained results. These were compared with already known studies, and the hypotheses evaluated based on results and comparisons. Finally, the empirical part discusses the possibilities for further research in this area.
