Abstract:Policija je osrednji gradnik nacionalnega varnostnega sistema Republike Slovenije. Čeprav električni skiroji in električna kolesa prinašajo številne prednosti, kot so okoljska trajnost, znižani stroški vzdrževanja in povečana mobilnost, so hkrati povezani z določenimi izzivi.

Title:Use of e-scooters and e-bicycles in the police
Abstract:The police force serves as a central pillar of the national security system of the Republic of Slovenia. In response to the growing demands and dynamics of modern society, it not only adapts but also proactively upgrades technologically. This enables it to more effectively address the security challenges posed by advanced technologies and evolving individual behaviors. Within the scope of the thesis, the primary focus is on the use of electric scooters and electric bicycles in police work. To obtain relevant and professionally supported information, we conducted a survey among police officers. Although electric scooters and electric bicycles offer numerous advantages, such as environmental sustainability, reduced maintenance costs, and increased mobility, they are also associated with certain challenges. These challenges include security concerns regarding their use, practical usability in various field situations, and infrastructure limitations. Therefore, the thesis delves into the possibilities and challenges of integrating these electric modes of transportation into police work in greater detail. The emphasis is on analyzing their appropriate use, required training for their operation, suitable safety equipment, and adaptation of road infrastructure for optimal use. Despite the identified challenges, there is a persistent trend in numerous police units worldwide, including European ones, towards the adoption of electric vehicles such as electric scooters and electric bicycles in their operational procedures.
