Abstract:Uvod: Raziskovanje pojava neželenih dogodkov in odgovornosti zaposlenih v zdravstveni negi ima ključno vlogo pri izboljšanju varnosti pacientov in kakovosti zdravstvene oskrbe.

Title:Accountability of nursing employees in the occurrence of adverse events in the Pomurje region
Abstract:Introduction: Investigating the occurrence of adverse events and the responsibilities of nursing staff plays a key role in improving patient safety and the quality of care. The aim of this thesis is to investigate the responsibilities of nursing staff when adverse events occur. Methods: We used a quantitative methodology. We conducted a survey using a questionnaire as a data collection technique among 250 nursing staff. The data collected were statistically processed using IBM SPSS Statistics 27.0 and a Chi-square test was used to test the hypothesis. Results: More than a third of employees experience unwanted events from time to time, and most of these go unnoticed. The results confirm the importance of team relationships, with employees who rate relationships as good being more likely to report adverse events. More than a third of employees report medication errors, only half report these events to their superiors, and more than half feel responsible for making improvements. We also used a chi-square test to demonstrate statistically significant differences between team interactions and reporting an adverse event to supervisors. Discussion and conclusion: Patient safety is an important challenge in healthcare. Challenges faced by staff in the event of adverse events include emotional and psychological distress. We found that improvements to the existing system for reporting adverse events in healthcare would be needed.
