Abstract:Uvod: Pediatrična paliativna obravnava zajema aktivno in celostno telesno, čustveno, duhovno ter socialno oskrbo otroka in vključuje tudi podporo družini. Iskanje je potekalo v bazah podatkov: CINAHL, PubMed, Web of Science in SAGE.

Title:Nurses´ experiences with spiritual care in pediatric palliative care
Abstract:Introduction: Paediatric palliative treatment concerns the physical, emotional, spiritual, and social care of children and includes support from the patient's family. Such care can be stressful for nurses. The purpose of this dissertation is to find out what the experiences of nurses with spirituality and paediatric palliative care are like and how the nurses cope with the death of a child. Methods: An overview of scientific literature was conducted. We searched in CINAHL, PubMed, Web of Science and Sage databases. The search is shown in the PRISMA diagram. We used the theme analysis method to analyse and synthesise the data. Results: We found 215 relevant articles; 10 were used in the final analysis. From the main theme of Experiences of nurses with spirituality while working with an ill and dying child, we derived two subthemes: 1) Coping with personal feelings and 2) Professionalism of nurses while working with children and their families. Discussion and conclusion: Performing palliative care on children with the added spiritual perspective is highly stressful and emotionally taxing for nurses. They are most often faced with sadness, anxiety, depression, and issues in communication with the child and their parents—many factors the nurses are exposed to play a role in the nurses' crises. Additional training and quality mentorship are needed so that the nurses can face their challenges better and improve their knowledge.
