Abstract:V magistrskem delu smo se osredotočili na analizo nudenja individualne pomoči in drugih oblik podpore v Dnevnem centru za otroke in mladostnike PIKA.

Title:Individual help and support for students with learning difficulties : case study of Pika, a children and youths day centre
Abstract:This master's thesis focussed on analysing the individual help and other forms of support offered in PIKA, a children and youths day centre. In the theoretical part, fundamental concepts important for understanding learning difficulties and forms of work to eliminate them were defined. Based on literature, the types and forms of existent learning difficulties were explored, along with their recognizable characteristics. The process of handling a child has been examined and, based on the literature, the fundamental principles that need to be considered when providing assistance have been acquainted with. Focus was placed on individual and group forms of support, as well as other methods and forms of work. In the end, the functioning of day centres and the legislation they must adhere to was presented. The empirical part contains a case study conducted at the PIKA Day Centre for Children and Youths in Maribor. It has been determined that the staff in the day centre handles a wide range of children with various learning and psychological difficulties. Whilst working, they apply both individual and group work, however the most significant and rapid changes in behaviour and the learning process are achieved through individualised approaches.
