Abstract:V Sloveniji in svetu so kronične bolezni v porastu. Dobra komunikacija vključuje empatijo, iskrenost, zaupanje, sočutje in znanje.

Title:Implementation of infographics to help in treatment of diabetes
Abstract:In Slovenia and worldwide, chronic diseases are on the rise. Old age is also increasing and chronic diseases are a reflection of socio-economic determinants in society. Diabetes is a chronic metabolic disease. Diabetes patients are not directly threatened by elevated blood sugar, but by complications caused by untreated blood sugar on the blood vessels, kidneys, nervous system and eyes. Treatment of a diabetic patient begins with good communication with a healthcare professional. Good communication involves empathy, honesty, trust, compassion and knowledge. The relationship between the patient and the healthcare professional should be comfortable and safe. A diabetic patient needs a good educational process because he manages his diabetes at home all the time. Therefore, he should be familiar with all the procedures that affect good self-control of diabetes. In the hospital environment or diabetes clinic, we try to bring educational processes as close as possible to them with different approaches. Every person needs their own way of education and it is crucial that the educator teaches them well. During the pandemic, personal approach to education changed into control and learning via various internet applications or phone calls. We decided to make an infographic, which will be linked via QR code to an educational film about subcutaneous administration of the drug, self-control of blood sugar in the home environment, and hypoglycemia and related measures. First, we asked the educators at the Golnik Clinic, what would be the most appropriate information to include in such an educational process. Then, we asked patients with diabetes what they know about their disease, the medications they receive for the treatment of diabetes, who helped them most in learning and managing their disease, what problems did they have with this and what educational methods and tools have helped them the most. Using the QR-code on the leaflet, we showed educational films to another group of patients. We found that an educational film is more useful for patients who use appropriate technology and are generally younger. The results showed that patients prefer a personal approach, such as conversation or one on one education, besides that they like using leaflets, books, medical devices and educational films.
