Metode: Pregledali, analizirali in sintetizirali smo znanstveno literaturo s področja vzrokov neželenih dogodkov, povzročenih s strani zdravstvenih delavcev pri apliciranju krvnih komponent.

Title:Causes of the adverse events in the administration of blood components
Abstract:Introduction: Blood component transfusion is a common intervention performed in hospital settings. Adverse events related to their administration occur many times. This thesis aims to identify the causes of adverse events related to the administration of blood components. Methods: We reviewed, analysed, and synthesised the scientific literature on the causes of adverse events caused by healthcare workers while administering blood components. The scientific literature was searched in PubMed, CINAHL, Cochrane Library, and Science Direct. Results: We identified 591 studies and used 7 included in the final review. The most common causes of adverse events were errors by healthcare professionals: mislabelled blood tubes, misidentification of the patient, blood given to the wrong patient due to failure to verify the patient's identity, improper specimen handling, improper transport and heating of blood products, and inadequate measurement of vital signs and observation of the patient during and after transfusion. Discussion and conclusion: To maximise patient safety in hospital settings, it is necessary to highlight the causes of adverse events that occur due to the administration of blood components. The importance of highlighting the causes increases the knowledge of healthcare professionals to prevent these events, improves hospital care for patients, and reduces the institution's additional financial burden and bad reputation.
