Title:Motivation of an Early Childhood Educator for his own professional development
Abstract:This thesis entitled Motivation of an Early Childhood Educator for his own professional development consists of theoretical and empirical work. In the theoretical part, we summarized what motivation is, how it is shared, theories of motivation, what lifelong learning is and what professional development is, its principles, phases, and aspects, based on relevant professional literature written by various authors. We also delved into the connection between motivation and professional development in Early Childhood Educators and how important it is to include professional development and new knowledge in practice and work with children. In the empirical part, we investigated what motivates Early Childhood Educators in Slovenian kindergartens most, how they develop professionally, how often they participate in various trainings and other professional development programs, and how motivation is related to the professional development of Early Childhood Educators themselves. We obtained the data through a questionnaire and then processed it using the SPSS software. We presented the results in the form of tables. We concluded that Early Childhood Educators develop professionally on a regular basis and that they also introduce the gained knowledge into their work. This was most visible with those who are internally motivated for the work they do.
