Abstract:Diplomsko delo se osredotoča na uničevanje amazonskega pragozda in njegove vplive na spremembe podnebja, opisuje negativne posledice uničevanja gozda za živali, ljudi in Zemljo.

Title:The destruction of the Amazon rainforest and organized environmental crime
Abstract:The thesis focuses on the destruction of the Amazon rainforest and its impacts on climate change, describing the negative consequences of deforestation for animals, people and the Earth. It also addresses the question of how to prevent the destruction of the Amazon rainforest and what this means for the future of future generations and the Earth. It also focuses on the issue of ecological crime, ecological criminology and organised ecological crime. Ecological crime covers a wide range of acts that violate ecological legislation and threaten the environment, human health or both. On the other hand, we have organised ecological crime, which is caused by organised crime groups and often has a transnational component, requiring cooperation between the authorities of the European Union and its Member States, with third parties and international organisations. I highlighted the destruction of the Amazon rainforest as an example of a serious form of ecological crime. The Amazon rainforest is the largest tropical rainforest in the world, accounting for around 10% of the Earth's biodiversity and 16 % of the world's river discharges into the oceans. However, the Amazon rainforest has lost up to 20 % of its original area since 1970 and is still threatened by ongoing deforestation, wild life trafficking, cattle ranching, illegal logging, mining, etc. The Amazon rainforest area is key to reducing air pollution levels. To tackle the destruction of the Amazon rainforest, serious action must be taken against deforestation and other crimes taking place in the area. It is also important to encourage people and organisations to minimise pollution in the environment in which we live.
