Title:Assesment of the eligibility of an investment in a solar power plant
Abstract:Long-term investments have a significant impact on the success of a business, so it is crucial that a company's investment decisions are carefully assessed and evaluated. Dissertation assesses the viability of an investment project for the construction of a distributed small-scale photovoltaic power plant on the roof of a building of a company in the Podravje region. The investment project was assessed through a financial analysis and indicators of net present value, internal rate of return, rate of return index and payback period, which were calculated based on capital expenditure, operation and maintenance costs and expected benefits, which include savings on electricity costs and revenues from the sale of electricity peaks. In the economic analysis based on the financial cash flow, we also evaluated externalities, i. e. the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Using the selected approaches and evaluation criteria, we have concluded that the investment in the solar power plant is acceptable. By investing in renewable energy sources, the company wanted to strengthen its position as a socially responsible company, not only as a major company in the region, but also to ensure that its operations have the best possible impact on society at large and the least possible impact on the natural environment. A solar power plant designed to provide electricity for a company's self-supply is a direct contribution to the green transition to a low-carbon society.
