V raziskavi smo z analizo vsebine člankov sedmih izbranih slovenskih spletnih medijev leta 2022 preučili prezentacijo dveh političark – Urške Klakočar Zupančič in Nataše Pirc Musar ter dveh politikov – Roberta Goloba in Anžeta Logarja.

Title:Media representation of gender in Slovenian politics
Abstract:The media space of the 21st century still reflects inequalities, especially in the media representation of women, which differs from that of men. This study focused on this by comparing the media representation of selected female and male politicians. In the study, we analysed the representation of two female politicians, namely Ms Urška Klakočar Zupančič and Ms Nataša Pirc Musar, and two male politicians, namely Mr Robert Golob and Mr Anže Logar. The study analyzed the content of articles published in 2022 by seven selected Slovenian online media. The analysis of the content of the articles in our case study has shown that the selected media wrote about the studied female politicians less frequently than about the selected male politicians. The media selected has focused more often on the appearance of the studied female politicians than on the appearance of the male politicians. These female politicians were portrayed more often as parents and life partners than the studied male politicians; they were also more often portrayed as sex objects in comparison with the male politicians. The selected media problematized the statements, behaviour or decisions of the studied female politicians more often than those of the male politicians. Thus, the content analysis of our case study highlighted the bias in Slovenian media and showed the importance of raising awareness among readers and journalists.
