Title:Artistic Expression Through the Theory of Symbolic Forms
Abstract:The research of Sigmund Freud and Carl Gustav Jung shows that the soul or psyche expresses itself in the primary language of symbols. Humans create symbols spontaneously. One unconsciously transforms objects and shapes into symbols, thereby giving them great psychological meaning. In this way, one changes the visible world, which is presented to him in light and color. Color is no longer understood only objectively as an electromagnetic wave, but subjective properties and contents are attributed to it, which manifest themselves through feelings and ideas. The latter is also visible within modern and contemporary art, where the effect of the works cannot be fully explained by their visible form, which appears new and alien to the trained classical art eye.
Keywords:Symbolic forms, sign, archetype, C.G. Jung, Psychoanalysis
