Abstract:
V magistrskem delu je obravnavana korupcija v medijih, ki predstavlja veliko grožnjo verodostojnosti in objektivnosti medijskih organizacij. Korupcija se manifestira v različnih pojavnih oblikah, ki vključujejo pristransko poročanje, manipulacijo z informacijami, podkupovanje in navzkrižja interesov. K ohranjanju medijske korupcije prispevajo številni dejavniki tveganja, ki obsegajo nepreglednost lastništva medijev, nezadostno zavezanost novinarskim etičnim standardom in politični pritiski pri poročanju. Prikrite zainteresirane strani lahko izkoristijo pomanjkanje preglednosti za prikrito uveljavljanje svojih interesov. Poleg tega pa pomanjkanje trdnih regulativnih okvirjev in mehanizmov še dodatno poslabšuje to vprašanje. Posledice korupcije v medijih so obsežne in škodljive, saj spodkopavajo demokratične postopke. Za reševanje tega problema je potrebno vzpostaviti strog regulativni nadzor, zagotoviti neomajno spoštovanje novinarske etike, se zavzeti za transparentne lastniške strukture in spodbujati čuječnost javnosti. Z odpravljanjem teh dejavnikov tveganja si lahko prizadevamo za ponovno vzpostavitev novinarske integritete in zaščito nepogrešljive funkcije medijev pri oblikovanju informiranih in suverenih državljanov. Na začetku magistrskega dela je predstavljeno trenutno stanje medijev po svetu in v Sloveniji. Osrednji del predstavljajo pojavne oblike ter dejavniki tveganja za pojav korupcije v medijih. Na koncu pa so predstavljeni rezultati raziskave o percepciji javnosti o korupciji v medijih.

Title:
Corruption risks in the media
Abstract:
The master thesis deals with corruption in the media, which is a major threat to the credibility and objectivity of media organisations. Corruption manifests itself in various forms, including biased reporting, manipulation of information, bribery and conflicts of interest. A number of risk factors contribute to the perpetuation of media corruption, including lack of transparency in media ownership, insufficient commitment to journalistic ethical standards and political pressures in reporting. Covert stakeholders can take advantage of the lack of transparency to advance their interests covertly. Moreover, the lack of robust regulatory frameworks and mechanisms further exacerbates the issue. The consequences of corruption in the media are wide-ranging and damaging, undermining democratic processes. To tackle this problem, it is necessary to establish strict regulatory oversight, ensure unwavering respect for journalistic ethics, advocate transparent ownership structures and promote public sensitivity. By addressing these risk factors, we can work to restore journalistic integrity and protect the indispensable function of the media in shaping an informed and sovereign citizenry. The current state of the media in the world and in Slovenia is presented at the beginning of the Master's thesis. The central part is devoted to the manifestations and risk factors for corruption in the media. Finally, the results of a survey on public perception of corruption in the media are presented
