Abstract:V diplomskem delu smo predstavili vstavljanje trajnega urinskega katetra pri ženski ter s pomočjo vprašalnika in ocenjevalnega lista ugotavljali raven znanja zdravstvenega osebja v urgentnem centru.

Title:Inserting an indwelling urinary catheter into a female patient in the emergency department: a comparison of skills among health care professionals
Abstract:In the thesis, we presented the insertion of a permanent urinary catheter in a female patient. With the help of a questionnaire and an evaluation sheet we also determined the level of knowledge of the medical staff in the emergency center. In the preparation of the final work, we used a descriptive research method with an overview of the theoretical starting points of the selected literature. In the quantitative work, we used a survey questionnaire as the main instrument. In the qualitative part of the research task, we carried out observation using the ethnographic method. Nurses as well as doctors participated in the research. With the help of a questionnaire, we found that the self-evaluation grade of workers is high. During the observation of the practical work, we actually found errors which most often occur according to the protocol both with doctors and nurses. The most frequently undone step by doctors was the arrangement of the patient after the catheterization, namely in 33% (n = 5). Nurses stand out in that they do not introduce themselves to the patient before catheterization, i.e. 40% (n = 6). On average, the participants in our sample answered 68.1% of the questions correctly, doctors answered 69.1% of the questions correctly and nurses answered 67.6% of the questions correctly. Based on completed surveys and observations, we found out that there are differences between the protocol and the actual implementation of practice at the emergency center among medical staff. We also found a difference between the procedure of inserting a urinary catheter between doctors and nurses.
