Abstract:
Kadrovska preobremenjenost in organizacijska problematika vodita v nezadovoljstvo in stres zaposlenih v zdravstveni negi, ki so zaradi obremenitev bolj podvrženi k napakam.

Title:
Reasons for medication administration errors in the emergency nursing care setting
Abstract:
Medication administration errors are the most common cause of errors in emergency services by nursing staff, and there are various reasons for this. The purpose of this diploma thesis is to identify reasons that contribute to the occurrence of medication administration errors in the treatment of patients in the field of emergency nursing. Methods: A review of literature was carried out using the descriptive method and the method of analysis and synthesis. This literature review was guided by PRISMA guidelines. The literature search was conducted in the international databases PubMed, CINAHL, Web of Science and MEDLINE, taking into account the set inclusion and exclusion criteria and search limits. Results: Seven articles that met the search criteria were included in the final analysis. Reasons for the occurrence of medication administration errors in the field of emergency nursing were found to be related to staff shortage, excessive fatigue of nursing staff and shift work. Likewise, the occurrence of medication errors is influenced by an inadequate ratio between nursing staff and patients due to a large number of patients in emergency centers. Discussion and conclusion: The occurrence of medication errors is highest in emergency services. Overloading staff and organizational issues lead to dissatisfaction and stress among nursing employees, who are more likely to make mistakes due to the workload. To mitigate this, it would be recommended to employ a larger number of staff and improve communication in the team. With better conditions, many causal factors could be reduced.
