Abstract:
Povzetek Uvod: Biološka zdravila so zdravila, pridobljena s pomočjo bioloških sistemov.

Title:
Impact of biologic drugs on the quality of life of patients with psoriasis
Abstract:
Abstract Introduction: Biological medicinal products are those that have been developed with the help of biological systems. These medicinal products effect the life quality of patients with psoriasis significantly. The aim of this undergraduate thesis is to research, how well are patients suffering from psoriasis, acquainted with biological medicinal products, and their positive as well as negative effects. Moreover, how the treatment with these biological medicinal products effects the quality of life for patients with psoriasis. Methods: In the empirical part of the undergraduate thesis, we have used a method of quantitative research. A questionnaire has been used as an instrument of research, encompassing 13 questions. In the research 80 patients, who have a confirmed diagnosis of psoriasis and have been treated with biological medicinal products, have taken part. The data have been processed with Microsoft Excel software. Results: By analysing the results we have concluded that 99% of all participants have experienced a drop in occurrence of scales. Moreover, the skin has become significantly less itchy. In addition, 99% of participants believe that their self-esteem has improved as well as their self-image. 95 % of them think that treatment with biological medicinal products has not affected them during any sport activities or any activities in general. 67 % of participants have determined tiredness as the most common side effect during the treatment of psoriasis with biological medicinal products. Discussion and conclusion: Based on the research we can conclude that the biological medicinal products have a positive effect on the life quality for patients with psoriasis. All of the participants have shown content in the treatment of biological medicinal products. Moreover, almost two thirds of the patients believe that treatment involving biological medicinal products is one of the most effective methods of treatment. To bring awareness about biological medicinal products treating psoriasis, to the people affected by psoriasis as well as their effect and control of possible side effects of treatment with biological medicinal products is important.
