Abstract:

Title:
The influencive power of body language
Abstract:
Body language is an external expression of a person’s emotional state, it regulates interpersonal relationships and complements verbal messages. It can also include every non-reflexive and reflexive gesture of a body part or the whole body. The purpose of this paper was to find out which areas of our lives are influenced by body language, how they are influenced, and whether people are aware of its influence in these areas. At the same time, the paper investigates the significance and influence of individual factors of body language, our awareness of these meanings and the frequency of certain factors used. The research was conducted using a constructive descriptive method and a questionnaire, followed by an interpretation of the results. The influence of body language was established concerning interpersonal communication, higher level of self-confidence, subconscious level, persuasion and lying. The importance and influence of eyes, face, hands, posture, physical contact, proximity, appearance, speech pace, depth of voice, silence and clusters of gestures was also established. The results of the survey have shown that the awareness of the influence of body language is present, but in the matter of some researched facts, the awareness is still insufficient. The results have also shown that the average use of influencing factors is only occasional, depending on the activity itself, some of them being applied more frequently.
