Title:Psychological activities and stress management in police
Abstract:The thesis is designed to present psychological activity, its importance in the police and, based on the findings to propose improvements. Initially, the origin of stress and its effects on people are described. Given the specificity of the police profession, the essential question of this thesis is who is responsible for preparing people to act in stressful situations; whether it is an individual, whether the mental health must be taken care of by the organization. In order to determine the functioning and effectiveness of psychological activity in the police, the development and normative bases are presented and the annual reports on the work of psychological activity for the 10 years are analyzed. The findings are somehow surprising, as they show that a large proportion of psychological help and support seekers, almost 70%, have no direct relation with the operational tasks, but the reasons are elsewhere; a large proportion of seeking help falls on personal and well-being problems at work. However, the problems that arise over the years are interrelated and interdependent. Accordingly, it would be logical to expect an appropriate action from the organization. Finding out how much of the reasons for psychological help falls on dissatisfaction in the workplace, the question on a bad psychosocial climate, the role of management in leading police teams, was raised. In addition to the analysis of annual reports, through the study of normative bases and organization of activities, it was found that there are some limitations to the psychological activity.
