Title:Do average accountants have higher blood pressure than average slovenians?
Abstract:High blood pressure, also called hypertension is a disease that usually does not cause us major problems, but still needs to be treated. If left untreated, there is a much greater possibility of the following consequences to occur, such as stroke, heart attack, kidney failure and many other complications. The higher the blood pressure, the greater the risk of developing these diseases. People who are struggling with high blood pressure can effectively reduce it with normal weight, healthy eating, regular exercising, smoking cessation and by reducing excessive alcohol consumption. Accountants nowadays play a much more important role for companies than they once did. They are not just bookkeepers who compile balance sheets, submit mandatory reports and various forms on time, they also participate in internal consulting, financial and economic analysis, long-term strategic planning, as well as in developing procedures and process improvements in the company. Sometimes they trade their health for tough, excellent and professional done work, but later they find out that their way back can be very demanding. Many accountants drink too much coffee during the day, when they are under the pressure in order to stay focused and sedatives or alcohol in the evening to help them fall asleep. They become more irritated and anxious, headaches, colds, upset stomachs, etc. can occur. In the master's thesis, we will first present the theory and then we will focus on the research, where we will analyze the data obtained from the survey questionnaire. By analyzing all the obtained data, we will try to reject or confirm the hypothesis of the master's thesis. Through website called 1ka survey, the compiled survey questionnaire was sent to randomly selected accountants throughout Slovenia to their e-mail addresses, with a request to participate. Data from the survey questionnaire will be analyzed using Microsoft Office Excel and SPSS. First we will use descriptive statistics and then we will analyze the obtained data using statistical methods. The hypotheses of the master's thesis are called H1: Blood pressure among accountants is on average higher than blood pressure among average Slovenians. H2: Blood pressure among accountants is on average lower than blood pressure among average Slovenians. The average blood pressure among the interviewed accountants is between 120/80 mmHg and 139/89 mmHg, which was compared with the hypothetical blood pressure of the average Slovenian, which is 140/90 mmHg. The average difference told us that the negative value in our case indicates that the mean height of the sample is lower than the hypothetical value. Therefore, with a 5% confidence level, we reject hypothesis H1 and accept hypothesis H2, which claims that blood pressure among accountants is on average lower than blood pressure among average Slovenians. Accountants sometimes trade their health for tough, excellent and professional done work and later find out that their journey back is very demanding. The main goal is to show excellence at work, while maintaining good health.
