Izvedli smo pregled in analizo literature. Literaturo smo iskali v podatkovnih bazah CINAHL, PubMed in Medline. Pri tem smo upoštevali postavljene vključitvene in izključitvene kriterije. Potek pregleda literature smo predstavili v diagramu PRIZMA. Zbrane podatke smo analizirali in sintetizirali z uporabo vsebinske analize.

Title:Communication barriers with mechanically ventilated patients in the intensive care unit
Abstract:Introduction: Complications and communication barriers with patients on mechanical ventilation in intensive care units can cause pain, fear and anxiety. All of this can further worsen the patient's health and prolong their time of hospitalisation. By systematically analysing such situations, the final thesis aims to explore the obstacles encountered by nurses in their communication with patients on mechanical ventilation in intensive care units. Methods: A descriptive work method was used. We performed a review and analysis of literature found in the CINAHL, PubMed and Medline databases. In doing so, we took into account the set inclusion and exclusion criteria. The course of literature review was presented with a PRIZMA diagram. The collected data was analysed and synthesised by using content analysis. Results: The 15 relevant research articles show that the effectiveness of communication with mechanically ventilated patients is reduced due to a number of barriers, which may arise between the nurse and the patient. By identifying and removing communication barriers, we can achieve more effective communication, thus enabling the patient to express their needs and desires, as well as more easily participate in the healing process. Discussion and conclusion: Communication with mechanically ventilated patients is accompanied by a number of communication barriers which can be reduced by taking into account the patient's health condition and using communication aids. In the future, additional communication training ought to be introduced and greater emphasis placed on communication with such patients.
