Abstract:Diplomsko delo Aktivni življenjski slog in prehranske navade otrok je sestavljeno iz teoretičnega in empiričnega dela. Namen diplomskega dela je ugotovitev prehranjevalnih navad in aktivnega življenjskega sloga otrok v 1. razredu mestne in podeželske osnovne šole. Cilj diplomskega dela je primerjava prehranjevalnih navad in aktivnega življenjskega sloga otrok v 1. razredu mestne in podeželske osnovne šole.

Title:Active lifestyle and eating habits of children
Abstract:This thesis, entitled Physically Active Lifestyles and Eating Habits of Children, consists of a theoretical and an empirical part. The purpose and aim of the thesis were to determine and compare the eating habits and active lifestyles of first-grade children of urban and rural primary schools. In the theoretical part, we discuss children's nutrition and related eating habits, children's motor skills, the definition of an active lifestyle, the importance of physical activity in adolescence, sports activities that benefit young people and shape their futures, the disadvantages of physical inactivity for children and adolescents, the stages of motor development, and the role of nutrition in the motor development of children. At the end of the theoretical part, we summarize the previous research and findings on the topic. In the empirical part, we interpret and present the results of an anonymous questionnaire. The data were collected quantitatively. We used a non-random sample from a specific population consisting of parents of six and seven-year-old children of urban and rural schools. The chi-square test was used to analyse the collected data. It was found that first-grade children of both schools were similarly physically active, but that their eating habits differed – rural school children had better eating habits than children from urban primary schools.
