Abstract:Magistrsko delo obravnava Šaleška jezera in problematiko Termoelektrarne Šoštanj. Veliko je bilo govora o Velenju, Premogovniku Velenje, ki je enkrat zaprt, drugič odprt, o Šaleških jezerih, ki so posledica delovanja premogovnika, in Termoelektrarni Šoštanj, ki proizvede kar tretjino električne energije v Sloveniji, vendar je velik trn v peti tamkajšnjim domačinom. Za potrebe magistrske naloge smo analizirali sekundarne domače in tuje vire. Z deskriptivno metodo smo opisali temeljne pojme in predstavili pojave, ki so bili spoznanja tujih in domačih avtorjev. Poslužili smo se tudi kvalitativne oblike zbiranja podatkov, kjer nas je zanimalo mnenje kopalcev v Velenjskem jezeru. Med pisanjem magistrske naloge smo ugotovili, da se z leti Šaleška jezera in tamkajšnjo okolje izboljšuje. Ob jezeru je videti že veliko živih bitij in rastlinja, ki ga v prejšnjih letih ni bilo mogoče opaziti. Prav tako je Velenjsko jezero postalo zelo zanimiva točka za turiste, saj je ima eno izmed boljših plaž v Sloveniji, čeprav še vedno nima statusa kopalne vode. Občina Velenje dela tudi močno v tej smeri, da bi čim prej pridobili status kopalne vode, saj je sedaj kopanje vseh kopalcev na lastno odgovornost. Termoelektrarna Šoštanj veliko pozornost posveča varstvu okolja in zmanjšanju emisij. Občina Velenje o vsem tem obvešča širšo javnost, zato so v termoelektrarni še bolj pazljivi. Raziskano je tudi bilo, da se mora nasip med Velenjskim in Šoštanjskim jezerom nujno urediti in sanirati, da se jezeri ne bosta združili v eno in poplavili velik del Šaleške doline. S tem bi v nevarnost spravili mnogo ljudi; sanacija mora steči v bližnji prihodnosti, da domačini ne bodo več ogroženi.

Title:Environmental issues of Lake Šalek
Abstract:The master's dissertation deals with the Lakes Šalek and the problems of Šoštanj Thermal Power Plant. There has been a lot of talking about Velenje, the Velenje coal mine that is every now and again open and closed and of the Lakes Šalek which are the result of the coal mining in Velenje. My master dissertation discusses also the issue of Šoštanj Thermal Power Plant that produces a third of Slovenia's electricity but is a thorn in community’s side. For the needs of master's dissertation, we analyzed secondary domestic and foreign sources. By using a descriptive method, we described the basic concepts and presented the phenomena that were the findings of foreign and domestic authors. We also used qualitative forms of data collection, where we were interested in the opinion of bathers in Lake Velenje. In our master's dissertation we found out that over the years the Lakes Šalek and the environment there have been improving. Many living creatures and plants never have been before spotted along the lake. Lake Velenje has also become a very attractive tourist destination, as it has one of the best shores in Slovenia, although it still does not have the status of bathing water. The municipality of Velenje is also working hard in this direction in order to obtain the status of bathing water as soon as possible, as now bathing of all is at one's own risk. The Thermal Power Plant pays a lot of attention to environmental protection and reduction of emissions. Also the Municipality of Velenje informs the general community about the issue fact, so the Thermal Power Plant is even more attentive. The results of the research show that the embankment between Lake Velenje and Lake Šoštanj must be urgently arranged and rehabilitated so that the lakes do not merge into each other and flood a large part of the Šaleška Valley. The merging lakes would put many people in danger, so remediation must take place as soon as possible.
