S pomočjo deskriptivne metode analize znanstvenih in javnih virov smo ugotovili, katere metode dvofaktorske avtentikacije so trenutno v uporabi, kakšne so njihove značilnosti in kaj pomenijo za varnost uporabnikov.

Title:Mobile devices and two-factor authentication
Abstract:The doors which we use to access our online identity daily, are often poorly secured with passwords, which we use on multiple accounts, because it's easier to remember. Passwords have been the only mechanism which the average user has had the access to, with the more complex methods being exclusive to enterprise. The best uses have been longer, more complex are uncommon passwords, which we had to change regularly to prevent or at least slow down brute forcing attempts. Sadly, even with this knowledge, millions of passwords are stolen every year, no matter how long and complex. With the rise of smartphones, a new way of securing our online accounts also came to be, while not replacing the traditional passwords, but to provide additional security and lessen the requirement for even longer and more complex passwords. Two-factor authentication suddenly became accessible to everyone with a smartphone. The average user does not require dedicated and expensive hardware solutions in their pockets to access their online life. The key to our online life has become the phone itself. With the help of descriptive research of research papers and public resources, we discovered what methods of two-factor authentication are currently in existence, focused on use of smartphones, what are their characteristics and what do they mean for the security of users. We ask ourselves how much do people use these new methods of securing their online persona? With the help of quantitative research, we found out how much Slovenes really use two factor authentication with a focus on what methods they use or have used and if two-factor authentication enabled accounts have ever been compromised within the participants of the survey.
