V sklopu kvalitativnega dela smo pridobili dodatne informacije o različnosti znanj, usposobljenosti, občutkov kompetentnosti in načinov dela šolskih svetovalnih delavcev različnih poklicnih profilov na področju duševnega zdravja.

Title:Mental health literacy and self-efficacy among school counselours
Abstract:In the master's thesis, we studied mental health literacy and the assessment of self efficacy in identifying and dealing with crisis cases among school counsellors in primary and secondary schools in Slovenia. The study involved 232 participants who completed the Depression Literacy Questionnaire (D lit), the Anxiety Literacy Questionnaire (A lit), and the Risk Assessment and Management Self Efficacy Scale (RAMSES). Additionally, 200 participants also answered 8 open questions. We discovered that there are differences in literacy among participants according to their occupational profile, namely that psychologists have better literacy about depression and anxiety disorders compared to other occupational profiles. Psychologists also express higher self efficacy in assessing the threat or crisis identification and management. In addition, we discovered that there is a positive association between literacy about depression and self efficacy in assessing the risk or identification and management of crisis cases and between literacy about anxiety disorders and self efficacy in risk assessment or crisis identification and management. In our sample, there was no positive association between self efficacy and years of work experience in the school counselling service, as we assumed based on the findings of previous research. In relation to the results of quantitative analyses, the first five hypotheses were confirmed, but the sixth hypothesis was not. As part of the qualitative work, we obtained additional information on the diversity of knowledge, skills, self competence, and manners of work of school counsellors of different occupational profiles in the field of mental health. We also gained insight into how different schools ascribe different importance to the work of the school counselling service in the field of mental health and how they act accordingly. Our research thus represents an important contribution of knowledge in the field of school counselling and mental health, raises awareness of the importance of psychologists in school counselling, raises awareness of the most common problems of school counselling in mental health, and provides guidelines for future improvements.
