V sklopu teoretičnega dela smo opredelili izraz starševstvo in vlogo očeta in matere.

Title:The role of school counselor when dealing with children and parents after divorce
Abstract:In our master's thesis, we have studied the role of the school counselor when dealing with children and parents after divorce. In the theoretical part, we have defined the term parenting and the role of both parents. We have focused on parental divorce, its definition, the prevalence of divorce in Slovenia, and on the life of the family after divorce. Next, we were interested in how a child experiences parental divorce, what it means for him, and what problems the child faces. We were interested in the emotional and behavioural characteristics of children of divorced parents and explained and described the protective factors. Finally, we have focused on the role of the school counselor when dealing with children and parents, how the counseling activity works, and what emotional and social support it can provide. In the empirical part, we have studied the role of the school counselor when dealing with children and parents after divorce. We have conducted a study in which we have gathered information on our topic from a hundred and sixty school counselors. We have learnt that they occasionally encounter problems with children after divorce, but at the same time observe an increase in divorces. There is also a desire for additional training related to divorce. We were interested in what problems counselors face, whether they think they are qualified enough to offer help and support in such cases, and if they have enough sources of support in schools for divorced families.
