Abstract:Izhodišče in namen: Hipoglikemija je pogost, nepredvidljiv in potencialno nevaren stranski učinek zdravljenja z insulinom pri sladkorni bolezni in jo je mogoče preprečiti s spremembo življenjskega sloga. Rezultati so bili analizirani s statističnim programom IBM SPSS 20. Uporabljeni so bili t –test, ANOVA in Mann-Whitney test.

Title:The occurrence of hypoglycaemia in type 2 diabetic patients treated with insulin administered in diabetes clinic
Abstract:Background and aim: Hypoglycaemia is a common, unpredictable and potentially dangerous side effect of insulin treatment in diabetes and can be prevented by lifestyle changes. The purpose of the study was to investigate the incidence of hypoglycaemia in patients with type 2 diabetes treated with insulin and the causes of the incidence of hypoglycaemia. Research methodology: A quantitative survey methodology was used and a validated survey questionnaire was used as a research instrument. A total of 198 patients participated in the study. The results were analyzed using the statistical program IBM SPSS 20. A t-test, ANOVA and Mann-Whitney test were used.. Results: 12.1% had severe hypoglycaemia in the last year, 7.6% in the last three years and 10.1% of those interviewed since the start of treatment. 39.4% had moderate hypoglycaemia in the last year, 28.8% in the last three years and 27.8% of the respondents since the beginning of treatment. 93.9% of the respondents believe that they can act properly on the symptoms of hypoglycemia. No statistically significant differences (Z = -1.101, p = 0.271) were detected in the knowledge of the symptoms of hypoglycaemia with respect to the place of residence, nor were there any statistically significant differences between the groups in terms of status in the incidence of hypoglycaemia. Discussion and conclusion: The research highlights the role of healthcare professionals in providing quality patient education. They should be taught about target values, symptoms of hypoglycaemia, methods of prevention and immediate action on the onset of hypoglycaemia. In addition, periodic training programs should be implemented for all diabetic patients, which should also include topics on hypoglycemia.
Keywords:type 2 diabetes, symptoms, hypoglycemia, recognition of hyoglycemia, nurse, education.
