Abstract:V diplomskem delu smo predstavili problematiko epileptičnih napadov.

Title:Prehospital care of patient with epileptic seizure
Abstract:The diploma thesis focused on epileptic seizures. We classified the types of seizures and presented causes and reasons for their occurrence. We also described the severe form of epileptic seizure called epileptic status. In addition, proper first aid, an emergency call on the number 112, an intervention to the prehospital emergency medical unit and subsequent treatment of a patient with epileptic seizure in tertiary institution were described. We conducted a survey among medical rescue team across Slovenia and were interested about how often Slovenian medical rescues encounter this phenomenon, their knowledge and differentiation between seizures, and the implementation of correct measures in the treatment of such a patient. The research we carried out has achieved the goals we have set and found that epileptic seizures are not a rare occurrence in a prehospital setting and that medical rescuers in Slovenia are well qualified to handle such interventions.
