Abstract:
Preučili smo različna obnašanja 2-pydo in 4-pydo v primerljivih pogojih – spojini se razlikujeta v koordinacijskem številu, načinu koordinacije nitratnega iona, zunanji koordinacijski sferi in strukturi kristala. Prepoznali smo več različnih načinov vključitve hidroksipiridinov in piridonov v kristalno strukturo koordinacijske spojine: koordinacijska vez, elektrostatske interakcije in nekovalentne interakcije.

Title:
Synthesis of copper coordination compounds with hydroxypyridines
Abstract:
The purpouse of this masters work was to synthesize new copper coordination compounds with hydroxypyridine or pyridone ligands. We described four succesfull reactions of yet unknown coordination compounds. The products were characterized with different methods and undoubtedly confirmed on single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Reaction with copper(II) acetate monohydrate yielded a dimeric product 1 with four acetate bridged ligands: [Cu2(μ-Ac)4(4-pydo)2] ∙ 2 CH3CN. Lactam 4-pydo coordinated in axial position through the oxygen atom. The solvate decomposes out of the mother solution. Reaction with basic copper(II) carbonate yielded product 2: [Cu(Ac)2(4-hpy)2(H2O)]. The selection of acid appears to be a key factor which acts both as solvent for the copper starting compound and as ligand. It also influences the tautomeric equilibrium of the ligand 4-hpy, which consequently coordinated in the lactim tautomeric form through the nitrogen atom. Reactions with copper(II) nitrate trihydrate yielded products 3 ([Cu(2-pydo)2(NO3)(H2O)2](2-pydo)NO3) and 4 ([Cu(4-pydo)2(NO3)(H2O)2]NO3). We described different behaviour of 2-pydo and 4-pydo in comparable conditions – the compounds are different in their coordination number, in the way the nitrate ion coordinates, outer coordination sphere and crystal structure. We recognized different ways the hydroxypyridines and pyridones are included in the crystal structure: coordination bonds, electrostatic interactions and non-covalent interactions. Selection of solvent in consideration of the copper starting compound used was of key importance for succesfull synthesis.
