Abstract:
Magistrsko delo se osredotoča na delovanje in uspehe Fotokluba Maribor med leti 1936–2016. Temelji na analizi gradiva iz Arhiva Fotokluba Maribor, ki je bilo doslej neraziskano in neurejeno. Naloga predstavlja historiat fotografskega kluba, ki je bil leta 1936 ustanovljen kot Fotoklub Maribor, leta 1945 bil preimenovan v Fotoamatersko društvo Maribor, leta 1949 v Foto-Kino klub Maribor, od leta 1974 pa deluje kot Fotoklub Maribor. Glavna naloga fotokluba je (bilo) izobraževanje novih fotoamaterjev, organiziranje tečajev, predavanj in razstav. Kot je pokazala raziskava, je bil klub najuspešnejši v obdobju med leti 1960–1975, ko je bil zaradi števila in uspešnosti razstav ter prejetih priznanj imenovan za najboljši fotoklub v Jugoslaviji in Sloveniji, njegovi člani pa so zasedali prva mesta na domačih in mednarodnih razstavah. Takrat je bila znotraj kluba ustanovljena tudi skupina Mariborski krog (1971–1974), katerega člani so v slovensko in jugoslovansko fotografijo vnesli nove, tedaj še nerazumljene in neznane smernice, njihov doprinos pa upravičeno velja za največji uspeh kluba. Ob razpadu Jugoslavije je sledilo manj uspešno obdobje Fotokluba. Izrednega pomena je tudi Fotogalerija Stolp, prva fotogalerija v Sloveniji, ki so jo člani odprli leta 1989. Skupaj s Fotoklubom Maribor je še danes nepogrešljiv del mariborske kulture in slovenske fotografije.

Photoclub Maribor 1936-2016
Abstract:
The master’s thesis deals with the work and successes of the Photo club Maribor in the period between 1936 and 2016. It is based on a thorough analysis of materials from the Archive of the Photo club Maribor which have not been thoroughly researched yet. The paper presents Photo club Maribor which was established in 1936 and its work through time up till now. In 1945, it was renamed into Fotoamatersko društvo Maribor (Photo amateur society Maribor). In 1949 it was renamed again into Foto-Kino Klub Maribor (Photo cinema club Maribor) and from 1974 on, it operates under the name Fotoklub Maribor (Photo club Maribor). The main task of the photo club has been to educate photo amateurs, to organize courses, lectures and exhibitions. As the research has shown, the club was most successful in the period between 1960 - 1975, when it was awarded a prestigious prize for being the best photo club in Yugoslavia and Slovenia, its members won first prizes in national and international exhibitions. Maribor circle (1971-1974), whose members introduced new, until then incomprehensible guidelines, is considered the best achievement of the club. After the disintegration of Yugoslavia, the photo club experienced a slight decline. Referring to Slovenian photography, one of the most important galleries is a Stolp Photo gallery which was opened in 1989. The photo club and the Stolp photo gallery remain being indispensable part of Maribor culture and Slovenian photography.
