Title:Crowdfunding
Abstract:For an uninterrupted business operation, a company needs financial assets that can be obtained from different sources. Some companies cannot obtain financial assets in a traditional way because they might be too expensive or unattainable, which is why they use an alternative way of financing. One of the side effects of the global financial crisis were emerging online crowdfunding platforms, which helped small and medium-sized enterprises raise funds. On the platform, a company presents an innovative project to raise initial financial funds through a large group of people. In exchange for money, they receive an equity stake in the company, payment of interests, exclusive awards or products. The more funding an individual invested, the better the reward should be offered. This diploma seminar paper is composed of two parts. In the first one, equity and debt financing are defined and crowdfunding is described in a detail. In the second part, different types of traditional financing are compared with crowdfunding with predetermined criteria and analysed.
