Abstract:Teoretična izhodišča: V diplomskem delu Šport in staranje smo opredelili relevantnost in koristnost telesne aktivnosti v tretjem življenjskem obdobju človeka. Ker tekom procesa staranja pride do sprememb v sestavi telesa, in posledično do upada gibalnih in funkcionalnih sposobnosti ter razvoja raznih bolezenskih stanj, ko smo jih tudi opisali, smo se osredotočili na izbiro, vrsto, obseg in intenzivnost telesnih aktivnosti, ki jih lahko izvajajo starejši ljudje. Poudarili smo dejavnike tveganja pri posameznih oblikah športa in predstavili ustrezne preventivne ukrepe pred začetkom izvajanja telesne dejavnosti. Nismo se usmerili samo na fizično pripravljenost, temveč tudi na mentalno ravnovesje, saj sta dobra telesna in duševna moč bistvenega pomena za zdravje starejšega človeka. Življenjski slog starostnika smo preučili v povezavi s pravilno prehrano, gibanjem in dobrim spancem. Pri športnem udejstvovanju starejših ne govorimo več o tekmovalnosti, ampak smo v prvi vrsti izpostavili vpetost v družabne stike znotraj telesno dejavnih skupin in predstavili vsesplošni slovenski projekt Šole zdravja. Raziskovalne metode: V diplomskem delu smo z uporabo deskriptivne metode preučili odnose, procese ter dejstva že objavljene literature. Z metodo komplikacije smo uporabili navedke drugih avtorjev. Podobna ali različna dejstva, pojave in procese smo primerjali s komparativno metodo. Rezultati: Ugotovili smo, da so aktivni starostniki, ki se poleg gibanja zavedajo tudi pomena primerne prehrane, zdravega spanca in vzdrževanja socialnih stikov, telesno in duševno stabilnejši v primerjavi s tistimi, ki so neaktivni, nesocialni in neozaveščeni o načinu prehranjevanja ter imajo pomanjkanje spanca. Diskusija in zaključek: S staranjem se človek sooča s številnimi spremembami, kot so fizične, psihične, socialne ali vedenjske spremembe. Nastanek nekaterih bolezni v starosti omejuje zmožnost opravljanja vsakodnevnih opravil. Kvalitetnejši in aktivnejši proces staranja je moč doseči s skrbjo za lastno telesno in duševno zdravje.

Title:Sport and ageing
Abstract:Theoretical basis: In the diploma thesis Sport and ageing we have defined the relevance and the usefulness of physical activity in the third age. Ageing causes a lot of change in the body structure and consequently it decreases physical and functional abilities and causes various diseases which we have described further on. We have focused on the choice, kind, range and intensity of the physical activities that can be performed by the elderly. We have emphasized the risk factors in different kinds of sport and presented suitable security measures before the beginning of physical activity. We haven't focused only on physical condition, but also on mental balance, since good physical and mental strength are essential for and elderly person's health. We have studied the lifestyle of an elderly person from the view of healthy diet, exercise and enough sleep. When talking about the elderly practising sport, we do not mean competition, but mostly social relations that arise within sport groups. We have also presented the well-known Slovenian project »Šola zdravja«. Research methods: In the diploma thesis the descriptive method was used to study the relations, processes and facts from the existing literature. The complication method was used to present the quotations of other authors. Similar or different facts, phenomena and processes have been compared with the comparative method. Results: We have established that active elderly people, who are aware of the meaning of exercise, healthy diet, enough sleep and maintaining social relations are more physically and mentally stable than those who are inactive, unsociable, unaware of a healthy diet and have a lack of sleep. Discussion and conclusion: By ageing a person is confronted with numerous changes: physical, psychological, social or behavioural. Some diseases in old age limit the ability of doing everyday chores. Only by taking care of one's physical and mental health it is possible to achieve quality and active ageing.
