Zato smo najpogostejše predsodke in stereotipe o Romih navedli tudi v posebnem poglavju. Po splošni osvetlitvi problematike o izvoru Romov, razvoju njihovega jezika, romske književnosti in romskih otrocih v slovenskem šolskem sistemu se doktorska disertacija ukvarja s folklorno in avtorsko romsko mladinsko književnostjo, mladinsko književnostjo namenjeno romskim otrokom in mladinsko književnostjo v slovenskem jeziku z romsko tematiko.

Title:Roma Youth Literature in Slovenia
Abstract:Undoubtedly, the national history, the characteristic of the language and the nature of the people are also reflected in literature. This also applies to Roma people, a homeless nation, whose story is often obscured by misunderstandings, prejudices and stereotypes. That is why the most common prejudices and stereotypes about Roma people have been also listed in a separate chapter. After general coverage of the issue of Roma origin, the development of their language, Roma literature and Roma children in the Slovenian school system, the doctoral dissertation deals with folklore and Roma youth literature authors, youth literature for Roma children and youth literature in the Slovene language with a Roma topic. The main emphasis was the analyses of collected pieces of work and they were divided into the three groups of distributed books and with a big emphasis on motives, main characters, style features and other common elements. These appear to be truly distinctive and reflect the rich culture of the Roma people. The doctoral dissertation entitled Roma Youth Literature in Slovenia provides a systematic overview of the already published Roma youth literature, literature aimed for Roma children and Slovenian youth literature with a Roma theme. The collected and analysed literature was also a fundamental instrument of data collection. We used the collected data from targeted literature works using general theoretical methods to answer our research questions. The answers confirmed our assumptions that literature, with a specific theme, may carry historical facts, but also a critical / uncritical, acceptable / unacceptable attitude towards the main or side literary heroes. In our case, we believe that the rejection and labelling of the Roma community in an environment that has a very common negative connotation can be mitigated through literature. This is also reflected in a case study that spontaneously arose when collecting data. The case study was added to the doctoral dissertation as it gave an excellent insight that developing tolerance through literature is possible if only the teacher is sensitive enough to the chosen topic. It is also interesting and encouraging that the number of Roma youth literature and literature aimed for Roma children is increasing year by year. We anticipate that this trend will continue and that the content and visual issues will be of higher quality. It is crucial, therefore, that we work with multicultural literature with care and careful consideration if we are to overcome stereotypes and prejudices about the Roma people.
