Title:Analysis of labor market in selected members of european union focusing on gender gaps
Abstract:The topic of the thesis is the analysis of the labor market in selected European Union countries with a focus on gender pay gaps. We made the analysis of the entire labor market of each country, analyzed the unemployment rates and the educational structure of both men and women, followed by a thorough analysis of wage differentials between the sexes. The aim of the thesis was to identify the causes of the existence of gender pay gaps, what is the theoretical explanation of wage differences, we analyzed whether the pay gap between women and men in selected countries has been increasing or decreasing in recent years, and which of the selected countries have major problems in this field than others. We have found that Italy has the greatest unemployment problems and that Czech is the country where unemployment rates are the smallest. Wage differences are on average decreasing in the EU, 5 of the eight selected countries have gender pay gaps above average, 3 of them below. Almost in all eight countries the problem of gender pay gaps has fallen in the past 10 years, the only exception is Portugal.
