Diskusija in zaključek: Pacienti s celiakijo in laktozno intoleranco živijo kakovostno, če upoštevajo strogo dieto brez glutena.

Title:The qualty of life of people with celiac disease and lactose intolerance
Abstract:Background: Celiac disease is an autoimmune inflammation of the small intestine, It is genetically conditioned and caused by gluten. Lactose intolerance is caused by the lack of the lactase enzyme. The aim of my paper is to find out what is the life quality of patients with celiac disease and of patients with lactose intolerance like. And what is more, the purpose is to determine the factors which decrease the quality of their life. Methods: I used descriptive and quantitative research methods. A questionnaire with 17 questions was used as a research instrument. The research pattern consisted of 60 patients with celiac disease and lactose intolerance. Results: On the basis of our research we have determined that the quality of life of both diseases is good when they follow their diet and that the food available is sufficient to ensure good life quality. The three factors that influence their life quality the most are eating in restaurants, travelling and financial input. The patients included in the research think that celiac disease is more burdening. Discussion and conclusion: Patients with celiac disease and lactose intolerance lead a quality life as long as they follow a strict gluten free diet. On the other hand, a strict lactose free diet is not necessary. The financial burden of adult patients should be reduced by government financial aid. Finally, awareness and family support can also help to ensure a better life of patients.
