Abstract:
Volitve so neločljiv del predstavniške demokracije. Na volitvah volivci izražajo svojo voljo in izbirajo predstavnike, ki jih bodo zastopali v zakonodajnem telesu oziroma bodo vodili izvršno oblast. Vendar pa kljub pomembnosti volitev volilna udeležba po svetu upada in to celo na vseh kontinentih. To je pereče vprašanje, s katerim se države sveta spopadajo že več desetletij. Najbolj problematično pri upadu volilne udeležbe pa je, da je ta največja pri mladih volivcih. V svoji diplomski nalogi sem v prvem delu predstavil volilno udeležbo v svetu, predvsem sem se osredotočil na volilno udeležbo mladih volivcev v Evropi in ZDA in pa na vzroke in faktorje, ki nanjo vplivajo. V drugem delu diplomske naloge sem na kratko predstavil zgodovino volilne udeležbe v Republiki Sloveniji, kasneje pa analiziral podatke, zbrane iz volilnih imenikov treh občin. Na vzorcu 6063 preštetih volivcev, razdeljenih v starostne skupine in po spolu, sem skušal dobiti kar se le da točen vpogled v to, kakšna je razlika v volilni udeležbi med starejšimi in mlajšimi generacijami v Sloveniji.

Title:
YOUTH VOTER TURNOUT
Abstract:
Elections are inseperable part of representative democracy. On election day, voters' will is being expressed and they choose their representatives in legislative or/and in executive branch of the state. Despite the importance of elections, the voter turnout around the globe is plummiting. It is a real problem, with which countries around the world are struggling for decades. The highst rate of droping in voter turnout is amongst the young voters. First part of my dissertation is focused on voter turnour around the world, with emphasis on youth voter turnout in Europe and USA and factors that contribute to it. In the second part of my disseration I briefly presented the voter turnout in Slovenian elections and later I analysed data, which i gathered from voting registers of three municipalities in Slovenia. The voters, gathered from voting registers have been divided in various age groups and gender groups and by doing so, I was trying to get as accurate view of what is the picture of voter turnout amongst different age groups.
