Title:The quality of work of trainers with younger teams
Abstract:In my diploma paper The Quality of Work of Trainers with Younger Teams, in 2017/2018 we conducted a research in cooperation with coaches, actively involved in sports clubs across Slovenia. Using a coaches’ survey and upon observing a training session, we determined the variety of factors that impact the quality pedagogical work of coaches. In the theoretical part of the diploma paper, we focused on the competitive aspect of sports and on children and their role as young athletes. In depth, we introduced what and who a coach is and how extremely important for a child they are. At the same time, we focused on their quality pedagogical work. We introduced all key factors that contribute to the success of coaches in their line of work. The empirical part of the diploma paper introduces a research where using a non-experimental causal method for a non-probability sample of a specific population of coaches we acquired the data from sports clubs and analysed it. A survey was used as a research method, comprising 67 open and closed-type questions. In training, 18 elements were observed. Quantitative processing – the descriptive statistics – was used to process the data. Results of the research showed that a coach’s formal education plays an important role in the preparation of a training session, since there are more coaches with a high-level education that actually prepare for their training sessions. We established that the monthly training fees do not affect the number of children coached. The majority of clubs sets no entry requirements to begin with training. The results also show that the duration of a training session depends on the children and their willingness to participate. Further on, we determined that an additional important factor in motivating the children to train is the coach’s age. The children proved to be most cooperative in 50 or 70 min training sessions, while their motivation is highest when inspired by coaches between 35 and 39 years of age.
