Title:Traffic safety of autonomous vehicles
Abstract:Worldwide more than a million people die each year as a result of road traffic accidents, and between 20 and 50 million suffer injuries. The main cause for their occurrence is the human factor. It was found that as many as 94% of all traffic accidents are caused by humans. Autonomous vehicles, these are vehicles that can assume a part or all the dynamic driving, are designed to eliminate the driver's faults and consequently reduce the number of road accidents and casualties. In the graduation thesis we presented the history of autonomous vehicles, defined autonomous rates and presented their functioning. In the research part of the thesis we described the existing state of road traffic safety and the legislation in the field of autonomous vehicles and presented a statistical analysis of the traffic accidents involving autonomous vehicles. Using the survey questionnaire, we obtained a representative sample of people and by analyzing their answers we presented public opinion about the safety of autonomous vehicles. We came to the conclusion that for most traffic accidents with autonomous vehicles, a human is responsible, and that the majority of respondents have a positive opinion on the safety of autonomous vehicles.
