Title:The affection of Accounting Students to Compiling and Solving Case Studies in Teaching Process
Abstract:Teaching accounting is a complex process consisting of different teaching methods. Professors can use only one method or combine several different methods. The main purpose of teaching accounting is to teach students the most useful knowledge that can be used in different situations, as in the teaching of all durgical subjects. The most common methods for teaching accounting are learning with the help of theoretical examples and learning with case studies. In our graduation thesis, we studied whether accounting students are more inclined to solve case studies than theoretical examples. By reasarching the affection, we studied articles and already written researches in this field, and then we conducted surveys. We surveyed the students of the Faculty of Economics and Business Maribor in the field of accounting, auditing and taxation, and in the direction of finance and banking. With the results of the survey, we wanted to suggest to professors of accounting subjects which of the teaching method seems to be the best for students and why they think that way. With the help of the survey, we found that all surveyed students of accounting at the Faculty of Economics and Business in Maribor are inclined to solve cases studies, because they believe that examples from practice are more interesting and easier to understand and that they bring more practical knowledge than theoretical examples.
