Abstract:Humani virusi papiloma (HPV) najpogosteje povzročajo genitalne bradavice in raka na materničnem vratu.

Title:Parents' perspective on human papilloma virusu vaccination
Abstract:Most commonly caused conditions by the Human papillomavirus (HPV) are genital warts and cervix cancer. There are several ways to prevent the infection however, the most appropriate is vaccination. In Slovenia, vaccination is intended for girls aged from 9 to 14 years. It's of paramount to raise public awareness of the inoculation importance. Throughout our research we learned that approximately 80 % of parents are familiar with HPV infections and disease transmission/carrier factors. 60 % of parents are confident that they have the sufficient amount of information about vaccination methods (they acquire 22 % of information from the media, 37 % from the internet and 17 % via medical and healthcare staff). 13 % of parents attend awareness lectures before the vaccination and 57 % of parents actually decide for the vaccination procedures of their children. The results of the questionnaire survey show that the parents do not attend the lectures about the HPV vaccination procedures which are organised in schools. It's important to have at least basic awareness about this concept. Information that they acquire with these lectures have to be of high quality because, they will diminish the fact about the safety of the vaccination procedures. It would be more sensible to actualise the research on a larger pattern.
Keywords:HPV, vaccination, cervical cancer, medical nursing work.
