Abstract:Namen magistrske naloge je bil preučiti in primerjati mnenja osnovnošolcev tretje triade o šolskem prostoru.

Title:Third triennium pupils' view on the school environment
Abstract:The purpose of the MA Thesis was to study and compare opinions of students in the third triad of primary school about their school environment. Due to the lack of cooperation from various schools, we decided to choose two completely different schools, both in the year when they were built and the type of architecture that was used. The empirical analysis, where we showed our results, was divided into three parts. Firstly, we were interested in students’ assessments of specific characteristics of school premises, which was established with the help of five sets of assessment scales from 1 to 5 for each individual premise. Secondly, we were looking at the classrooms specifically, where we used four closed dichotomy questions and added an open type question where students had the opportunity to explain, with their own words, which particular thing they do not like in the classroom and why. We used closed type questions in the third part where we were interested in the exterior of the school building. At the last question related to the school playground, we added an open type sub-question, which allowed students to express their wishes about the appearance of the school playground. The purpose of this research was to compare opinions of two very different schools. We were, therefore, interested, in all three sections of the analysis, in whether there are statistically significant differences in opinions about the school premises in relation to the school that the students attend. We set a general hypothesis at the beginning that students of the younger and more modern primary school 2. OŠ Slovenska Bistrica, which was built in the year 2007, will be more satisfied with the arrangement of school facilities than students from an older primary school OŠ Leona Štuklja Maribor, which was built in the year 1983. The results mostly confirm the hypothesis, but there is an exception regarding the classrooms, where we found out that the students from OŠ Leona Štuklja Maribor primary school are more satisfied with their classrooms than the students from 2. OŠ Slovenska Bistrica primary school. With the MA thesis, we wanted to highlight the fact that space defines a person, influences his well-being and creativity, shapes social values, living culture and general culture. We believe that space and environment, as an important factor in children’s development, are often overlooked, and that there is too little emphasis on that matter.
