Abstract:
V filmih protagonist zaradi storjene krivice vzame pravico v svoje roke in sam obračuna s sovražniki, seveda brez pomoči države. Po maščevanju in zadoščenju se protagonist vrne kot zmagovalec oziroma heroj. Pri tem gre za značilno obliko pojava, ki se imenuje vigilantizem. Vigilantizem je dejanje oz. sklop dejanj, kjer posameznik ali skupina vzame zakon v »svoje roke« v prepričanju, da se mu/ji je zgodila krivica in da mu/ji država ne more pomagati ali pa je pri tem neučinkovita, nepoštena (pokvarjena) ali podkupljiva. Vigilantizem se pojavlja po vsem svetu, najdaljšo in najbogatejšo tradicijo prakticiranja vigilantizma pa zasledimo v ZDA. Obstajajo različne definicije vigilantizma, ki so v veliki meri odvisne od prostora in časa, v katerem se pojavljajo in uporabljajo. Vigilanti večino časa delujejo izven zakonskih okvirov v prepričanju, da lahko spremenijo obstoječi državni sistem. Izven zakonskih okvirov zakonodaje ZDA sta delovala tudi Edward Snowden in Bradley (Chelsea) Manning. Oba sta zaradi prepričanja, da je država postala pokvarjena, posredovala javnosti več milijonov zaupnih državnih podatkov ter s tem tvegala življenje in svobodo. Med eno od vigilantskih skupin spada tudi The Minuteman Project, ki je delovala na ameriško-mehiški meji z namenom preprečiti vstop ilegalnim imigrantom. Družba in država lahko različno sprejemata vigilantizem. Kako družba sprejme vigilanta, je odvisno od sprejemljivosti dejanj vigilanta. Kako država sprejme vigilanta, je odvisno od pravnega reda države.

Vigilantism: case study
Abstract:
In movies the main protagonist takes the law in his own hands and deals with the enemies without the help of the state. After his revenge the protagonist is seen as a hero and a winner. That kind of phenomenon is called vigilantism. Vigilantism is the act where sole or group actors take the justice "in their own hands" to correct the wrongs that happened when they perceive the state as ineffective or corrupt. Vigilantism is occurring all over the world, but it has the strongest and the deepest tradition in the United States of America. Definitions of vigilantism mostly depend on the time and space in which is occurs, which lead to many different definitions of vigilantism. Vigilantes mostly don’t act within the legal framework, convinced that they are able to change the current state system. Edward Snowden and Bradley (Chelsea) Manning can be described as vigilantes. Because of the moral perception that the state has become corrupt they revealed millions of top secret state documents to the public. With this choice they put at risk their lives as their freedom. Vigilante group consist of more individuals that share the same ideas and believes. One of vigilante group is called The Minuteman Project and it was patrolling USA-Mexico border against illegal immigrants. Vigilantism is accepted differentlly by society and by state. Vigilantes are accepted differently, it depends on how adequate by society their acts are. Vigilantes are accepted differentlly by the state according to their acts and the states rule of law.
